Somerset Rural Youth Project

  • Type of SEND provision:

Somerset Rural Youth Project (SRYP) is a voluntary organisation, charity and company limited by guarantee, established in 1997. Our mission is to work with young people, encouraging them to take responsibility for themselves and become actively involved in shaping the communities in which they live.

Current SRYP projects include:

  • National Citizen Service (NCS) – For 16 and 17 year olds. Take part in social action projects and build skills for work and life.
  • Green Activities Programme – Develop skills, earn qualifications while working to conserve Somerset’s beautiful protected landscapes.
  • Workshop – First-hand experience of working in engineering and mechanics.
  • Rural Employment and Learning – Helps young people with writing CVs, job hunting and work experience placements. The programme offers nationally recognised employability qualifications.
  • Traveller Project – Supports Irish Travellers and Gypsy Romas to raise their aspirations and educational attainment.
  • Access Programme – Information and guidance for young people aged 16 to 25, helping them to get to work or college.
  • Young Healthwatch –  A voice for young people to influence Somerset’s health and social care services. Discussing and informing around: transition to adulthood, mental and emotional health, healthy lifestyles and promoting good physical and mental health.

Special educational needs and disabilites information

All schools, childcare and SEND providers must make their policy and provision for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) available on their website. This is usually published in the provider's SEN information report. This link takes you to where you can find this provider's SEN information report.

If you cannot find what you are looking for or you have questions about the provider's SEN provision, you should contact the provider directly.

We usually hold some information about a provider's policy and provision and you can find what we do hold here.
