Description

Portage is a home visiting service for pre-school children with special educational needs. It aims to support families to develop their child’s learning through play and develop confidence and enable families to feel included in the community.

We offer home visits of about an hour which involve activities to develop learning through play.

There are four teams of Home Visitors across the county, each team has a Senior Home Visitor and is supervised by an Educational Psychologist.

PERSCEY (Portage Early Response to Social Communication in Early Years)

PERSCEY is a home visiting service which comes under the umbrella of Portage. PERSCEY is a service offered to families with children aged from 0 to 5 with social communication difficulties.

  • How to access
  • Referrals to our service are made usually by Health Visitors or by Therapists such as Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. Referrals are agreed at multi-agency meetings called MAISEY meetings.

  • When is it available
  • The Service is delivered for up to 4 terms but will finish when a child starts school.
