Description

An Access to Work grant can pay for practical support to help you start or stay in work if you have a disability, health or mental health condition.

You can apply for a grant from the Department for Work and Pensions’ Access to Work fund to cover the extra support you might need if you are a young person with a disability or health condition and are on, or about to start, the work experience part of a supported internship or traineeship.

It can go towards

  • Specialist equipment for the days you are at the employer’s premises
  • The extra fares to work if you can’t use public transport
  • Job coaches

There is no set amount for an Access to Work grant, and how much you receive depends on your circumstances.
