Early help is taking action to support a child, young person and their family at the earliest point of identified need.

Many forms of ‘early help’ are available to Somerset families to help support them to cope and to thrive. From voluntary agencies, Councils, health services and schools – many partners offer support.

Somerset partners feel more could be done:

  1. to coordinate services to improve the quality of people’s experiences,
  2. to make sure that families have access to the right help at the time they need it,
  3. wherever they live, and
  4. that they have real influence over the support that is offered.

Whether you’re a parent, carer or professional, we would like people to get involved in helping us improve early help support by taking part in one of two workshops on Thursday 7 October:

  • Session 1: 10:00 – 12:00
  • Session 2: 18:00 – 20:00

In these sessions, you will be offered the opportunity to share your views and thoughts on what you would like to see in the future.

This work is being undertaken by Somerset County Council’s Children’s Commissioning Team, supported by The Institute of Public Care at Oxford Brookes University, and advised by a multi-agency and representative steering group.

To book your space at one of these sessions, please use the booking form.
