Transferring from a Statement to EHC plans

Somerset's transition plan

In Somerset, the County Council has arrangements in place for children and young people transferring from old Statements of SEN, or Learning Difficulty Assessments over to Education Health and Care (EHC) plans. These are explained in the Somerset Transition Plan for Statements and LDA to EHC Plans.

An important part of this is a Transfer Review meeting. This meeting involves parent carers, children and young people, and the local authority to discuss a possible transfer. The things agreed at this meeting are written into a transfer review report.

The government knows that the transfer process will take time, and says that all transfers to EHC plans should have taken place by 1 April 2018.
