Parenting

Help and support in your role as a parent

Being a parent can be one of the greatest jobs in the world but also one of the hardest! The most important thing to remember is that while parents and carers have the greatest influence on children’s health, happiness and education, there is no such thing as a perfect parent and however hard we try, we all need a bit of help and support at some point.

The pages in this section of the website have been designed to help parents and carers who are looking for information, advice and services to support them being a parent.

For further tips and general advice on specific topics such as behaviour, sleep, health and transitions (pre-school to school, primary to secondary, and so on) and details of local and national organisations, please see The Somerset Parent and Carer Toolkit.

There will also be information about the parenting support programmes we offer in Somerset and the organisations that can provide them.
