Early years providers, schools, colleges and other bodies can make a request for an Education Health and Care needs assessments but only with the knowledge and agreement of the parent or young person, where this is possible. When the educational setting makes this assessment request, it must provide all the information required at the time of making the request. This can help speed up the decision-making process. Parents, and young people over 16, also have the right to request an EHC Needs Assessment independently.
